Some time ago I came by a no-name-brand banjo mandolin with a variety of problems: missing hardware, busted head, etc. It sat in my “to-do” pile for about five years until it occurred to me that I really needed a 5-string banjo, and one way to get one would be to make a new neck for the banjo-mando body. So, after the transformation, here it is. Whoever thought it was a good idea to marry a banjo with a mandolin was clearly tonally-challenged. Believe me, the world is better for there being one less banjo-mando. Of course, now I have three different kinds of banjos, so that might be a problem.
